Default P0325 - again

I have 2003 GT PT Cruiser. Yesterday while driving my engine light came on and when I looked for the code I got P0325. This happened back in April and after a couple of days the engine light went off (the same day I took it in to a mechanic) He couldn't find any issues. So I've been driving since then with no issues, and yesterday came on again. I don't drive my car much. Couple times a week. I read that the engine light shuts off if the issue doesn't re-appear after 3 consecutive trips. Don't want to take it to the mechanic again if there is nothing wrong. Can an expert weigh in on this? Do I take it seriously, and take it in or keep driving...what's the best next step?

Thanks for any help.

P.S. What is the function of the knock sensor?

Here's an old post that might answer both questions....

Crewzin; great lead! It explains why bolt torque is critical. Thanks MX-5

Sadly, MX-5 (Mike) isn't around anymore. Not sure what happened. He was an expert mechanic with his own shop. He came up with the 2001-02 Burp Mod and actually worked with Champion to develop the Double Platinum plugs for the PT. Because he changed so many fuel pumps he passed on the information about driving around with very low fuel in the tank which I pass on here whenever someone mentions they drive till the warning light comes on.
