Default Another fog light question

I have searched the forum for the answer and everyone seems to have fogs that stay on. My girlfriend has owned her 03 GT auto since new. Now having 140K on it, it still runs good. But the fogs just died last year. She wants them fixed. When they died I checked the fuse. Fine. But the fog light on the dash will not light up either when you pull the switch out. So I just ran a check on the gauges.....and the fog light in the dash, does not work when you run a test on the dash??? Is it still the multifunction switch? Or do I have more problems? What other things can I check to see what died?

Thanks!!!!

I don't believe the 'Fog Light' icon is supposed to be on(except when F/Ls are on!),but I'm not 100% sure?(since my PT is w/o factory fog lights).

I would still think it's the MFS,since that seems to be your only 2 issues(fog lights & fog light indicator).....These are a couple of threads, that may help you more: How to Repair the Multifunction Switch w/ Pictures (Fog Lights)

But in the dash test, all working bulbs are tested. So the fog light should come on. Anyone else?

So are you saying the foglight light does not light up during the dash test?

One day the fogs stopped working and so did the dash light. Seems everyone has them stay on. This pt we can't get it to work. What can I jump to check the switch?

Thanks

Sorry, I just did the dash light test twice to make sure and the fog light DOES NOT light up during the test...so it's supposed to work that way....and I do have everything working.

When I pull the knob out at the end of the stalk, THEN the fog light on the left gauge comes on and only then.

A very common problem. Follow the instructions on changing the stalk/switch. The flasher unit has to be taken off the old switch and moved to the new one.

It should be noted; There have been a few people that have changed the MFS,only to have it go bad again in the future (maybe 2-3yrs,or less?);You might consider doing the 'mod' listed in the second thread I previously suggested(seems to improve on the inherent fault of the original design); But if you do go with total replacement, most have had better luck with Mopar MFS replacement, than with atermarket;True it costs a little more than aftermarket, but if it means not having to R & R again, some would consider it worth it.
