Default 2007 Engine noise

Hi, My 2007 Cruiser touring edition is making a grinding sound at idle, maybe a valve or pulley bearing somewhere. Car has 165k, Timing belt was probably done around 100k. Other than this, car runs fine, throws no codes, or overheats.

Most likely a bearing noise, ac, tensioner, or alternator. Valves click and cclatter.

See lots of 2.4's in JY withe idler bearing shot.

People tell dealer to replace timing belt-
That's exactly what they do.

So its something to do with the timing belt? Or is their a idler pulley on the accessory belt?

How could any of us possibly know?
They'd both make same noise and are in same location.

It seems to be what I didn't want. Sound is coming from behind the timing belt cover, maybe a pulley bearing, or water pump. The car has had a squealing noise when accelerating sometimes and I believe that is usually water pump bearings, or a belt.

Busted, thank you for your help. That at least gave me ideas of what to check for. Thanks again.

Water pump bearings are bad, which explains the occasionally squealing sound upon accelerating sometimes.
