Default Killed by Bambi...

Well, a deer ran right out and into the front of my PT as I was doing about 50 this afternoon. No humans injured, but the car is in bad shape. Given her age and mileage, insurance company speculates it will be a total loss. I am bummed out...

Would be an easy fix. Not any structural damage. But far as repair prices. They will more than likely want to try to do away with it. You can request it be repaired. I have seen this done. They don't like it though.

Right?....That's NOT bad at all;The hood, grill, and 'maybe' radiator are gone....But,the fender is repairable with minor bodywork........The rest looks fine;I actually think you got lucky.(coulda been ALOT worse!)...Glad your OK!

Definitely could have been worse. I am thankful no one was hurt. I am hopeful for a repair. .. couldn't get the hood open to see, but looks like the radiator was pushed back pretty far. Maybe there's still hope.

Did you see the antenna? Looks like it wrapped around a leg or something. Very thankful that nothing came through the windshield.

You can rub that out with a clay bar....

I have "tagged" 5 of the hooved rats - last one came VERY close to taking out radiator - I had a billet grill that I am sure saved the radiator....

Red face Re: Killed by Bambi...

That reminds me....
On my trip to pick up the Dream Cruiser, I drove to the wife's parent's farm in PA, before I returned to OkieLand.
On the way up a doe ran across in front of the Dream Cruiser that I had just bought.
Later that afternoon on another trip to the big city (2,000) I saw two standing by the road at the same place where the one had jumped past me!
Whew!!!
But, it is great hunting country after all.

I can see how the repairs would cost more than the value of the pt.

Hey their 05vanilla,

Glad nobody got hurt. Hard to say if she is done till you get the hood up and see if any more of the structure got kinked or shifted. As it sits in the pic without seeing the rest I would guesstimate somewhere in the neighborhood of around $2000.00 - $2400.00+ to fix. Again, might go up pending on whats under the hood.

If they do opt to fix, make double sure you request the repair shop use OEM Parts rather than cheaper Aftermarket parts which are cheaper stamped knock-offs. That is important or God forbid you ever hit another deer, it may wind up in the seat next to you.
