Default Veterans Day

I would like to thank all the veterans who fought in World War II, the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, the Persian Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the Afghanistan War. And also to their families and friends who suffered [or continue to suffer] in a different way.

Thank you.
Was quite a time period when Vietnam vets were dumped on...

I spent 4/68 - 8/69 in the Marines in Vietnam.

I now shop only at Lowes - they give 10% military discount on everything, but Home Depot doesn't discount many things, and you don't know what's discounted until you check out...

Personally, I would like to pass on my honor to all of whom have served, regardless of whether or not they were in a war. Many of you out there, those who have served in situations similar to mine, understand that just because it's a classified assignment, and the country is not listed "at war", you may still come home with wounds, bruises and mental issues related to your assignments. These are always done when you are following your orders, and following your oaths.

This is what the Enlisted has as their Oath:

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

I know I didn't always agree with my orders, but I followed them. Nowadays, if your orders appear inappropriate, unethical, or just plain wrong, then you should ask the question - why? Many of us ended up in places where normally you'd never go voluntarily, and places where you come back carrying a much larger load than you did going in.

Keep your faith, keep your head up, and keep on going. That will help keep you alive, and in years to come you will look back and decide, "did I do what was right?". I'm sure you did, but it helps to think about it now, rather than wait until later.

My best to those of you whom have served, and to your relatives who are gone.
