Default Lego ramp for oil/filter change

I needed to raise the front end of my PT a few inches so I could slide under the front of it enough to get to the oil filter and drain plug.

I remembered the orange giant interlocking "legos" that I got from Walmart to carry in my motorhome in case I needed to put something under my tires or leveler jacks.

I stacked a ramp of 3 high (3 inches) for both front wheels on the slick painted floor of my garage and had my wife signal when I climbed to the top. Engaged parking brake. Chocked rear wheels.

I had to push my ratchet wrench with my leg to get the oil plug loose. Previous garage must have put it on really tight. Filter came off easily with filter end cap socket wrench.

Used AMSOIL SS 5w30 25,000 normal mile/1 year oil and AMSOIL 15,000 severe mile/1 year Ea15K51 oil filter so done for another year.

Those orange interlocking RV legos worked great, did not slide even on the slick painted garage floor. They are light and stack nicely in their little bag for easy storage. Just a little hint for those without ramps, jacks or stands.

Wonder what they cost. The beehive ramps I have, called Rhino Ramps, from Advance Auto, cost only $40!! Rubber underside, long and decent shape, as my PT is only 4" off the ground and it's the only ramps I've been on where the nose of my PT doesn't hit it.

Here's a link to them, for your view:

These are what they look like:

Nice! Mine were about $28 according to Camco Trailer Leveling Blocks - Walmart.com . Since I already bought them for my motorhome, I didn't have to buy or store anything extra. My RV is 24,000 pounds and it works for that. And they only weigh a few pounds and take up less than 1 cubic foot for storage.

They work great. Nothing new to use on cars, truck, etc. I have used them for about 9 or more years? Look on thread my other car and you will see them in use as discribed by Goldie!

Nice find on those ramps Chromenut! Unfortunately my Autozone didn't have those or any I liked for that matter. So I made my own! Had fun along the way. I used plywood with hard rubber tread laminated to the top for the deck of the ramps. Then used 2x10s for the sides and braces and a 4x4 cut diagonally for the wheel stops.

"kool" ramps! That's a good idea for lowered PT's . You could make them a little longer to help front clearance. The MOPAR decal is a perfect finish.

Lightbulb Re: Lego ramp for oil/filter change

Tip: If you use car ramps on the downward slope of a driveway, and you'll be able to keep the vehicle level.
