Default Damn and blast this car!!!

Hi all
I have not really posted before, but have used the forum as a read only member.

I had a breakdown and followed advise given by several posts and the car was up and running once more (Thank you all again)

The break down gave the code P0340 so i replaced the cam sensor and and checked over the wiring (all clips in place and no rubbing to be seen) all was well until a few days ago when the car started to cut out.

It seems to wait until warm , 2 or 3 miles, and then a slight misfire. over the next mile or so the misfire gets worse until it stops.

If i wait half an hour it will start again and I can limp home (just).

I now have the codes P0340, 1684, 0505, 6122 and 1496

The car is 2002 auto and has done 89,000 miles (cam belt changed last year)

What have I missed?????

Just a guess.. You got a new sensor from a parts store instead of from the dealer

As noted you did pony up and purchased a Mopar Sensor from a dealer???

yup.. spend the 15 or 20% more for the part designed by the manufacturer.. I know the temptation, but it's smoke and mirrors ..

Just as I figured. This had to happen sooner or later. The maker of that part is one of the makers of one of the aftermarket parts. Who I don't know. But I would consider buying the magnet that mounts on the cam itself. But check the connection and the wiring again. All the codes are Bundled together there. Pull the battery and Check the connection on the computer. If all else fails.

Thanks guys for replies.

I have read so many times, on here, about after market parts problems so I got the part from the main agent. Is this how the cheaper part performs? If so I will take it back an shake them warmly by the neck. As I said all the wiring is in good order and clipped back. The only issue, and it is a minor issue, is that the wiring pulls a touch on the plug. I know that the wire can break inside the insulation but the initial breakdown was a cut out and did not restart. I would of thought that a broken wire would of misfired first and with all the movement of fitting the new part it would of continued to misfire of not started at all.
I like the car but I need it to be reliable.
