Default Whine When Cold?

This is the wife's car - 2003 Limited w/ 75,000 miles. Recent Transmission fluid service. Car whines terribly until thoroughly warmed up. Sounds goes away if you lift off the throttle. Could not find anything on this in the threads here.... any ideas? Thanks.

Does it change pitch if you move the steering wheel? If so power steering might be low.

my 01 done the same thing. started whining when temp was cold within a couple of weeks it whined all the time. the reservoir has a screen in the bottom that can get stopped up. I took my reservoir and lines off and cleaned and backflushed the reservoir, cleaned the lines and installed an inline filter. the whine is gone only took about two hours and $20. to fix. if you replace the hoses the return hose has a restrictor in it held in place by a band clamp.

Whenever it's cold outside, and I start hearing whinning coming from any of my vehicles,I normally fixed it by leaving the g/f at home next time...
