Default Rust and more rust

As the winter continues here and the salt keeps getting poured on the roads I have noted more and more rust and rot show up. The rockers have holes in em both sides. The front fenders have holes in em. Door bottoms have rust forming and bubbles on the outside corners. Now. How can I stop the rust or slow it till I can tackle it in the summer when it's dry out?

Sounds like it's too late to stop the rust that you have now. Somebody didn't do a good job of taking to the car wash and power washing the salt away after the snow cleared.

Not TOO far South!...Here on the Gulf Coast,we're lucky enough to have beaches you can still drive on.
But we're also unlucky we have beaches to drive on!.....
You have to watch buying used vehicles down here, because it may have been owned by some ignoramus that never jet-rinsed on the way home from the beach!(still not as bad as road salt, though.)

Use a good rust-inhibiting primer,or even W/D 40(stops rust,but effects filler & paint prep).

Look up the warranty - I thought there was a 10-year warranty on rust-thru.

Shelby; I use crc sp-350 in the spray cans. It lasts longer than wd-40 or crc 556. It goes on thin and evaporates leaving a better film. But will still wash off in the rain. Great on battery terminals, too.

I've read stories about people using special mixtures of ATF, drain oil, kerosene, gasoline, etc. There is a lot of info out on the web. Try the toyota truck sites. They have the most experience.

Car is a 2001. So the warranty is well up. Will try some of the suggestions. What about grease as in tube grease?

I have an outside metal shed that was starting to rust - put rustoleum on it and it's been fine for years.
