Default Water in gas tank?

Hey so I flooded my pt cruiser and I'm pretty sure I have water in my gas, what would I need to do to fix this problem? How would I get the old gas out? Etc? Thank you!

Cool Re: Water in gas tank?

Ahhhhh....
How do you know for sure that there is water in the gas tank????
Sometimes, especially with the cold winter weather, there is considerable condensation in the gas tank from warm gas pumped from the ground into your cold car.
If that is all it is (not significant water...as in a prank gone wrong) you can use a gas treatment to make the gasoline usable. That's why most folks will bother to fill up their gas tanks before really cold spells.
And, keep the tank at least half full at all times.
And, and use an occasional gas treatment.

Unless there is a considerable amount of water int he tank it really should not matter. If this were an old carburetor vehicle there would be cause for concern. A EFI system will pick up the water and run it through the fuel system without to much trouble.

Well it must have happened just recently if you think there is still water in it.

Have you had it looked at by a mechanic to know for sure that's the issue

Contact your insurance company involved in your accident and let them fix it

If it starts and runs the water will pass through the fuel system. If it is not starting your problem is elsewhere.

This is kinda where I was headed with my post....

"In a ditch with water up to the headlights" doesn't bode well for a lot of the electrical system.
(fuse box, starter, etc.)
Car that are in floods can often be cleaned up and sold.
But then there is even the issues of water under the carpets, rust, mildew...
Just sayin.....this isn't something that less than a PT mechanic can solve.
