Default Drain the radiator without jacking the car?

I checked the coolant in the radiator today, it is not very clean.
So I plan to drain and fill the radiator.

Is it possible do it without jacking up the car?
Thank you.

Not a lot of room under the PT but it could possibly be done. Do you know where the drain plug is? It's a rubber stopper that turns 1/4 turn to start letting the radiator drain, the plug doesn't come all the way out. Open the radiator cap to let air in as the coolant drains.

Big question is finding a container to capture the old anti-freeze so you can bottle it up and take it somewhere to dispose of it legally.

The picture below shows the back lower part of the radiator with the rubber plug near the bottom

I would add, don't do it unless you can get the bleeder screw on the housing free first, that way you can bleed the system, spray some PB Blaster on the bleeder and carefully brake it free, then go to town changing the coolant, worse case jack the car up put a jackstand on the drive side.

Don't forget to use the correct coolant Hoat and distilled water.

I just did mine Saturday.

The shallow container is the not the real issue. It's the drain cock. You have to twist and pull at the same time to get it to pull out far enough to drain the radiator. It's a really strange design. And if it hasn't been pulled out recently or lubricated in the past, it will likely be hard to get it to pull out far enough. And then it's got to go back in. The difficulty is the same there too. And of course, if you pull and/or twist too hard, it will break and may ruin the radiator.

It's not worth it. I recommend jacking the PT up far enough so you have room to see what you are doing.

Also, most of the new antifreezes are compatible with that old orange Duracool that the PT came with. My advice is to drain it all out, flush the system and put back in a good modern universal long life antifreeze. Once done, you can forget about needing special antifreeze. And many of the newer better quality universal antifreezes are approved by Chrysler for your car. Most older PT owners manuals were written before the new stuff existed.

Many Thanks.

I tried yesterday, It seems hard to get under the car.
I decide to get set of jack stands.

Is the
Craftsman 2-1/4 ton Floor Jack Set with 2-1/4 ton Jack Stands
safe enough to do the job when get under the Cruiser??

Thanks

I would get a pair of rhino ramps. then just drive up and you're good to go. but it's also good to get a jack and stands in case you have to remove the wheels.
NitroPT likes this.

Yeah

Any one know the LIFTING positions where I can put the floor jack on and jack it up?

I check the manual, it just mentions the positions for jack stands.

Behind each front wheel and in a little bit, there's a place where something bolts to the chassis with a nut sticking down. The cup on the jack fits nicely over that nut.

You can get the idea from this photo:
