Default front end issues

I have a 2001 pt cruiser and it has 120,000 miles..it started making noise like there was a problem with power steering but all checked out okay now it is making noise like it has a flat tire but all tires are fine...any ideas where to start.

When you say that it all checks out okay, what do you mean? Also, where specifically is the noise coming from? Are you sure you don't just have a knot on tire?

If you search the forum you will find that the power steering racks on some early high-mileage PT's have a tendency to fail. And I believe there has even been a recall on some.

And welcome to the forum, Tony. You should introduce yourself in the new members section.

Cool Re: front end issues

But...."flat tire" sound might be a wheel bearing too.

Wheel bearing was my first thought.

My 02 Base 5 speed Cruiser is starting to sound like my old PowerWagon with the 40" Monster Mudders - sorta like a tornado warning siren. Left front bearing is toast, so I ordered two - why just change the one, right. And it also has the "Cruiser Clunkies", so I also have both lower control arms on the way, along with sway bar links and tie rod ends. And hmmmm, looks like the lower motor mount has to be pulled to access the right side front control arm bolt - ummmmm, do you see where THIS is going?

Evil; And before you remove the bolts on the lower torque strut, mark them [scratch a line] , as one of the holes is a horizontal slot. At least for a 2006.
