Default I stripped my thermostat housing!

I seemed to have stripped my thermostat housing so my thermostat will not seal! I know that it's not a big deal and can be fixed relatively cheap. If I go with the helicoil route, what size will I need? And if I decide to drill it out and tap it for a bigger size bolt, what size would you recommend? I'm not against either option. I just don't know what size I need. Thanks in advance for ANY help I receive.

I've never done a one legged puke. And I'm ok with that.

was it the front bolt? If so I put min in upsidedown and I thought it was stripped. One side is longer then the other. Also di you make sure the termostat was in right. There was a notch on mine that had to be put on only one way.

It was the back hole that is stripped. I never thought to compare the bolts. And the thermostat is in correctly. It doesn't have a notch, but the one I took out did.

Try a longer bolt in the stripped hole. Chances are that there are still some good threads down in there.

I'll give that a shot. I could always use washers if the bolt is too long.

The two 10mm wrench hex size?

M6 x 1.

That is a good idea to use a longer bolt.
