Default How much coolant is trapped in the engine block??

If I just disconnect the lower radiator hose,
Only coolant in the radiator will come out?

I plan to use distilled water to flush it few times,
what portion of water or coolant the engine block traps?

Only with that answer I can calculate the concentration of coolant I should refill.

Not necessary to use distilled to flush but ok. Mix your coolant 50 /50. If you live here in the lower 48. What little water left in the block won't matter.

Thanks.

I saw some other car's engine would trap half of the coolant.

I am not sure it is the same for Cruiser.

I will measure the amount that come out.

There will be coolant left in the system by just draining the radiator. To do a proper job take a look at this video for a PT Cruiser ....

Coolant Flush How-to: Chrysler PT Cruiser (2001-2010) - 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited 2.4L 4 Cyl.

Beauty; Some of the older V-8's would trap so much in the block that you couldn't get the required amount of antifreeze back into the engine/radiator. The 2.5 mopars had a pipe plug at the back of the block near the bottom of the water jacket to drain most of the rest out. Some pretty gross stuff would come out.

After a drain and flush I look in the manual and find out what the cooling capacity is. Then divide it by 2. This tells me how much pure antifreeze [100%] must get into the engine. I put this in first, then add distilled water to top off. Bleed system. Re-add water. Fill reservoir with water if air temp is above freezing [50/50 mix if below]. Your reservoir level should drop [and be replaced] as the engine goes through heating/cooling cycles.
