Default New alternator--change in MPG and power

I recently had a new alternator installed in my '06 GT. Since then, my mileage has fallen by around 2 1/2 MPG, and at the same time my throttle response has increased. I barely have to push on the pedal and it goes, and when I goose it harder the acceleration is definitely more than what it was previously. Has any else experienced this?

I could see the new alt giving the coil pack a fresh kick in the amp caboose increasing power to the plugs hence the engine...but the mpg decrease has me stumped~

Easy: The MPG decrease is BECAUSE of the MPH increase.

Look for a vacuum leak. Extra air getting around the throttle body might have this effect. And it's easy to accidentally pull a vacuum hose loose or break a vacuum fitting while working under the hood. That would be where I would start.
