Default Leaks

Hi! I hope I can explain the problems well enough to be understood. I have a 2002 cruiser and it didn't pass the CA smog test due to a failure of the visual inspection of the PCV. Got that fixed and noticed what appeared to be oil spots under the car. Wanted to fix that before taking it back in for a smog check so I put a thick piece of cardboard under the car. About two days later I was out in the garage and noticed that the cardboard was drenched! It appeared colorless, especially compared to the oil. I touched it and smelled it and it smelled like water with a hint of coolant. Did the water pump test and the heater comes on nice and hot. Radiator was still full. I thought maybe the seal to the water pump may be the problem but with the other issue of the oil spots I thought it best to get on here and get some expect advice. Thanks

You don't say where you are, but were you using Air Cond? Was the leak on passenger side?
If answers are yes, probably condensation from A/C unit.

Best to get it on the hoist... I had the same issue in the fall, once I got a look under it, the rad proved to have a bit of ugly corrosion that was bleeding...
New rad... all in was maybe $375 up here .
.
You'll learn about HOAT coolant... Pretty much required... I thought I'd get away with using Global ... cost me a rad.
.
Is it warm there ? nice ? No ice storms ? Polar Vortex ? Life threatening howling arctic winds ?
If not..... call me jealous

Thanks! I guess I need to take it in since I do not have a hoist hehe

I just saw something about that in my Haynes manual!

Well it's nice today, but we just had a thunderstorm and lots of rain, cooler than normal temperatures and winds but nothing as you describe

Was it humid out in CA(Sorry -2 here at my house this morning )

If red, trans fluid, if slick and brown oil, if sweet and orange, coolant, if just water could be condensation from the AC which runs when defrost is on, will drip on pass side firewall.

And congrats for putting cardboard under car to pin point.

Oh if red in the front could be also be PS fluid, need to jack up car and look.
Check your PS reservoir, is it full.
Check your Coolant over flow reservoir, mark it.
Check your brake fluid.

If none are low, keep an eye on them.

If the cardboard dries out, it's water - if it's any kind of oil - PS or otherwise - it won't dry up.

I always use white bristol board .... Practically scientific ! There was even a time when I owned a Skoda, I could tell by the oil dollups how many miles I had left before I was to push it into the nearest gorge.

No humidity, at least not when this happened.

Thanks! I was trying to find a way to figure out the leak and cardboard was what came to mind.

Radiator is full, but reservoir is below add line now. All other fluids are full.
