Default new pt cruiser member

I just purchased a pt cruiser convertible 2006 with 41,000 miles. I paid $7300. Is this a good price. I'm ready some of the problems the pt can have and in my mine prepared. It does have a certain smell, I dont know if its from smoke or the car. The pt convertible was the best of all convertible for my height and ride. I do not know if I can purchase a warranty. Let me know

Welcome the forum from the great sovereign state of Arkansas!

On your pricing question, it appears you have bought a low mileage 8-year old car for what appears to be an average market price. I've found PT Cruisers are difficult to price correctly. The value of any car over seven years old will fluctuate wildly depending on where you live. Many are sold by private individuals and small used car dealers that don't get surveyed by Kelly or NADA. Plus, the PT cruiser has "sports car" interest in some areas and that skews the value of older ones more than other similar vehicles. State emission laws factor in too. Your car is especially hard to value because it's in that strange period between being current and being older and that can make it hard to get financed. It's too expensive for most folks that buy used cars to pay cash for. And it is too old for many banks to finance. But in summary, if it is a nice clean well-maintained PT and you like it, then I believe you did okay.

The primary things to look at after you buy a PT are spark plugs and better plug wires. And the timing belt with tensioner and water pump need to be changed around a 100,000 miles. Other members can give you more specific minor items to look at on your 2nd Gen convertible. And congratulations on becoming a PT owner.

Welcome ! I sense you purchased from a dealer ? IMHO for that price you could have insisted on a warranty and that they ensure the belt was done there..
I know it's too easy after the fact for strangers to critique, but that's probably the opinion of many.
..
You're still gonna be happy, dont get me wrong... let's have pics !
