Default rear wiper blade

replaced rear wiper blade on 06 pt but curved blade will not sit flat on rear window. seems as if the arm does not have any spring tension. does arm need replacing? if not should I just go back to flat blade? any ideas?

Cool Re: rear wiper blade

What do you mean by ...."curved blade"?
An OEM replacement is essentially a flat blade; even though it looks a little curved when on the arm, but not installed.
Did you use some special aftermarket blade and arm?
Otherwise.....it's always best to replace the whole blade.

Default Re: rear wiper blade

check where the arm is riveted together. as in the rivet that is about 2" away from there the arm bolts to the car. mine was semi seized and i needed to pry it open a little with a flathead and then i WD-40'd it. after i did that it was better but not perfect, so i gently bent the end of the spring with a needle nose pliers to give it a little more tension. it works great now. don't give the spring too much more tension though, or the wiper will 'hop' on the glass, making it worse. i use a rainx curved blade. it still doesn't wipe the top inch or so of the glass. i've yet to find a wiper that curves enough to do that.

i assume what you are referring to is that the wiper is bowed out in the center, not contacting the glass for the 6-8" closest to where the wiper sits at rest. like it contours nicely to most of the glass, but doesn't spring back fast enough to follow the flatter part of the glass after it passes over the curve in the center. mine worked good from the 9 O'clock position all the way to the 2 o'clock position, then it does what you describe. what i wrote above will fix that.
