Default Engine cranks, but cuts off.

Hey folks. New here, inherited a cruiser from my folks. They mentioned it had some starter problems, so, one day when it started but cut off on me, I figured it was the starter. I smacked it, started up. Now, sometimes it cuts off, and it takes two or three times to get it running, sometimes it starts right up, and sometimes it doesnt start at all. I replaced the starter....and...nothing. Same stuff. Help?

Have you checked for any loose wiring, like the fenderwell ground,or the engine ground, and checking the main positive to & from the PDC?(checking them can't hurt)

Some have had problems with the ignition switch but that wouldn't account for the times you smacked the starter and it started up.

Well, the problem seems completely random. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesnt. It could be it just happened to start, and my smacking the starter had nothing to do with it. Ignition switch, you say? I'm new to all this.
