Has the timing belt been done? Of course condition is everything. Mid to upper 30's without the stage 1. Is it Vin programed to the car? That's retail not privet party sale.

Have you changed the timing belt? If not, it's due to be changed right now. Anyone who buys it, if they can't do it themselves will be putting out somewhere around $1200. That's gonna knock the price down quite a bit.

Kelly Blue Book says: selling it to a private party and it's in excellent condition" $3249.00

Busted ....mid to upper 30's think you added a zero to many. Low to mid 3's is more like it.

Trading it in to a dealer ......$2326 - $2651

On Edmunds.com, it seems like you could get about $2500-3500 for the car in a private party sale.

On another note, I had my car, an '08 Cruiser (base) with 80k miles on it, looked at to see its value. I was offered 3 grand for it. Cruisers seems to depreciate a whole bunch when compared to other vehicles. Sad but true.

Check out blue book
Look at Craigslist

Value is going to vary fairly drastically depending on what part of the country you are in. Around $3000 is going to be a fair average. They seem to sell for more here in the mid-south. The nicer 1st Gen turbos seem to sell for over $4K and the 1st Gen NA's upwards of $3.5K. But there's lots of variation.

It's hard for Kelly or NADA to adequately gauge the value of many cars over seven years old. Most are sold by smaller used car dealers or by individuals and the real sell amount is never reported. Plus, many older PT's are completely ragged out but the true condition is often not reported. I think the best plan is to go onto Craigs List and figure out a median (not average) price for your car in your area.
