Default Engine swap

I have a friend with an 2004 GT and the motor died. He has put an N/A 2.4 standard motor in it but it will not run. Can anyone tell me what all has to be done to make this motor work for him. I appreciate any advice/help to pass on to him before he goes any further spending money.

I'm going to reach in the haystack for a needle of an answer and say: Use the PCM that came with the 2.4 NA and vin-match it to his car?

Different wiring harness. That's not going to work. What model motor is it? 03 and up first and the compression is too much on a n/a for the turbo cars . He needs a turbo motor. Just what exactly happened to the original motor?

Was the motor at least an '04 motor?

PCM has no idea what kind of engine it's running- N/A or Turbo.

Only thing that matters is that it's an '03 & up.

Hi guys, The 2004 turbo motor died and he decided he would put another engine in it from his other Cruiser that was wrecked. The other cruiser I believe was and 02-03 model Limited PT. He has removed the turbo set up and is using a regular ecm in place of the turbo ecm. A whirlwind of problems for sure.

Can't use the other ecm. Can't use 01 or 02. Unless he accentually turns the turbo car into the other car. Wiring harness and all. As it is. He has to use the turbo pcm. Motor must be 03 or newer.
