Default Time for the Timing Belt Nightmare

I've had my Cruiser for a few months now and today checked under the timing cover to find out my Timing belt hasn't been replaced yet , 113K miles , I'm going to buy one of the "gates Kits" Thinking about the "Gates Performance Kit" from Rock Auto $127 plus the "Gates" water pump $26.79 -- $154.41 any thoughts ??? She isn't driven much , mostly the weekend road trips , but id rather put good quality parts into it , do you think the "Performance kit" is overkill for a non turbo occaisional driver? or would I be fine with just the standard "Gates Kit" any comments welcomed , Thanks

Maybe check the reviews ? At any rate .. being likely the number one key item with the PT I'd personally go OEM .. that's just me though .. good luck !

The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.

Cool Re: Time for the Timing Belt Nightmare

the standard Gates belt will be more then fine for most any PT... save the couple bucks.

i have a standard gates belt and it has been holding up fine. it still looks like new after 52k miles of powershifting on the rev limiter.

i'd say unless you have stiffer valve springs and the rev limit raised to like 9000rpm there's absolutely no reason for the racing belt.

Found out recently that the oem belt is a stock gates. But the blue is pretty. Got mine cheap for the project. That's why I used it.
