Default A/C reads NO Pressure, blows warm, no fan turning, no compressor kick on

Well, the title pretty much sums it up.

I was driving this morning when suddenly I noticed the a/c was not cold at all. Yesterday, it was its normal, icy self giving me relief from our Florida heat.

We put a gauge on the low side of the a/c and got a zero reading. The compressor doesn't kick on, nor does the fan motor.

It's a 2006 with almost 99K miles.

We're going to try to add a can of Freon to see if that moves the needle or does anything at all.

Any other thoughts? And please, no four letter words... (TIPM, I mean)

Well, the fan not coming on MIGHT be due to the compressor not coming on, which is due to low refrigerant, so, that's a likely and cheap place to start.
You may need professional diagnosis if that fails...

Default Won't take the a/c freon...

We tried to recharge the system, but nothing happens after hookup. The can isn't getting cold as it does when we recharge our truck. Can won't dispel Freon.

What else should I check? Low/high pressure switches?

You have to charge it with compressor running - since it won't run, you have to short out low pressure switch to get compressor to run with can hooked up.

Default This Forum is AWESOME!

Thanks to all who offered advise... we got the car fixed and cold again. It was.... drum roll.. the low pressure switch. Less than twenty bucks and we're good again. Did the paperclip jump and it kicked on the compressor. Gave it a little more Freon and it's back to chillin' in the Fla. sun.

Well, that's great! And thanks for telling us the outcome so we can stop guessing.

Pt price wishes his could have been so cheap to fix

I don't know why I bother posting this since you won't be around to see it but why do you only come on here when you have issues?

Some people have lives away from forums - not all are like us...
