Lots of things in the suspension plus the exhaust area that cold cause a knocking noise. First you want to try and narrow it down to the front or back of the vehicle. Then you need to get it up on a lift to have everything checked out. If you don't know what your looking at under there, a lot of shops will do a free diagnostic/inspection for worn parts.

Your question is too general in description.
In order to be able to give you the best advice, you really need to try and pinpoint the source a little more for us.....For instance; Is it: Front or Rear? & Left or Right?
But,a typical source of 'klunking' from the rear end is the Watts Link & Bellcrank Assembly, and it can be checked from under the rear by firmly pulling left & right on it......If it 'klunks' it's bad!

See these for more info:

Lightbulb Re: Knocking over rough roads

Secondly,if your noise is coming from the front end,the first thing I'd check personally, would be the front stabilizer.......Check the mounting brackets, bushings, and end links/bushings.
Depending on the 'klunk',it could be a broken bolt for the mounting bracket.(the bolts can get pretty rusty from road salts/etc.)

For more info see these threads:rusty anti-sway bar link bolt
What's this broken wheel/suspension thingy???

Drive it up on ramps or get it on a lift and start inspecting things...

Thanks guys, sorry for being a bit vague, just really hard to tell where it's coming from when I am driving, maybe I will have to get a passenger to help me out as they can move around a bit to try and pinpoint it.
Thanks again
