Default TIPM questions

I have a 2006 Turbo automatic car that I am working on that we believe after much research that the TIPM is causing the issues we are having (randomly the car will not shift out of 1st gear).

My question is, is the TIPM year specific, and turbo specific? Looking at trying a used unit first to see if this eliminates our problem. Does anyone know what years the TIPM will work out of, and can I use one from a non-turbo car?

Thanks in advance.

I think I read the transmission Control Module on the 06 is incorporated into the PCM.
I got a bad replacemnet PCM and the transmission would go into limp mode
After replacing it again the speedometer worked, gear selector 1-3 came on and it shifted like it should

One of the sensors on the transmission could cause the same thing

Kappa, I used Rockauto as a reference ($338 for a new one from there, inc. $100 core), 2006-2009 showed the same p/n for both turbo and non turbo. 2005 and older didn't have TIPM's and none are listed for 2010 and up (don't know when they quit making PT's). Good luck.

Just an update. Tried the used luck....still have the same issues. Also, the airbag light came on with the used TIPM, because the bags were blown in the vehicle it came out of. Just a heads up. Digging deeper.......

I'm having a tough time with my 2006. Goes into limp mode. Replaced the TIPM, car was fine for about two weeks and now I have the same issue again. Wondering if I got a bad replacement part or if I need to replace the PCM as well. Codes I keep getting are related to the TCM. Would appreciate any help, I'm desperate. Thanks
