Default Need guidance...no compression in cyl 3

I have 2007 Limited turbo. 173,000 miles on it.

P0303 code came up, turns out theres no or low compression in cyl 3. Mechanic said it could be piston rings, but most likely is valve.
Cost: $1100....replace valve, re-mill surface, etc. This is the 2nd time I've had valve problems and had to have head removed.
Wouldn't it make more sense to replace them all? Its seems to be inevitable that they will all go bad at some point....
I'm thinking I should buy a reman head assy. (I've seen them for around $375) and take it to a mechanic.
Will this save me money?

Any thoughts?

Have a cylinder leak down test performed to verify what is being suggested wrong with your engine.

I had the same thing happen in my 06, did the leak down test and cyls 2&3 were bad. Pulled the head and sent it to the machine shop, they replaced all the exhaust valves. Cost was about $1600 (including timing belt, v belt and labor but not water pump or tensioner). I didn't see the rebuilt heads for $375 until it was too late.

I'm thinking it might make more sense to replace the whole damn head....seems like its a grand for ever valve times how many valves do we have in these?
as it is I'm gonna need a new catalytic converter because of all the unburned fuel running thru it

I think I would've gone the $375 route if I had found them before the head got sent to the machine shop, do your research on the company offering them though. Good luck.

Be careful, while the heads themselves aren't different (casting numbers same) (Turbo years had steam ports drilled even on NA heads AFAIK) the valves are.

How do you tell the difference? Dunno.

Obviously , if you were quoted $1100 to replace 1 valve its cheaper to get a reman. head , either that or $1100 per valve x 16 - $17,600 valve job , GOD IM IN THE WRONG BUSINESS LOL
