Top end of fuel mileage for a PT is somewhere in the low to mid 20's. There's no real PT-specific trick to getting more. I'm pretty light on the gas peddle and I consistently get around 22 mpg. Some get a little better than this. Some a little worse. I've tried several little tricks that have worked on other cars like adding a K&N style air filter. But none really did much on the PT. The non-turbo PT engine is pretty well optimized already.

Of course there's lots of general things any driver of almost any car can do to increase fuel mileage. Those are listed all over the internet.

PS: Installing some kind of plate behind the throttle body or in the air filter to swirl the air has been proven over and over again NOT to work. So don't waste your money there.

Hey thanks I was looking at those since they where cheap.. It just seams with my pt non turbo 03 that after I get past a half tank of gas it just sucks it all with in a day or so that other half of a tank can last 3- days..

I drive about 75 miles each day and I'd love to make it through the week with not having to fill up. But that would mean somewhere in the 30+mpg for me.

I have only put a K&N drop in filter and seem to get 23mpg consistently.

I'd say the best things you can do are
1. top off your tire pressure, and check it at least monthly
2. remove any and all unneeded stuff out of your car to save weight, some even remove the back seat. (don't remove the spare tire or jack, that's when you will need them)
3. avoid wind resistance by not adding sunroof deflectors, hood bug deflectors, or dare I say it the sexy spoiler. (I still want a spoiler anyway)
4. Use the A/C over rolling the windows down when you get north of 30mph.

5. Use synthetic oil (it helps a bit)
6. Keep a clean air filter in airbox
7. Accelerate gradually

You could use the method that BUSA uses to avoid burning gas in your PT. don't drive it!

Keeping the tire properly inflated
Keep the engine in mechanical tune
spark plug
ignition wires
air filter

The best re-training to improve MPG is learning to change poor driving habits.
An Ultra Gauge can help you do this along with monitor other PCM/ECM related engine control. It is a good investment.

Our 2005 ATX GT gets 22-26 MPG. The 22 is when I am driving spiritedly 24 is average over all and 26+ is high mile trips.

I thought about adding a throttle body spacer, JET chip, and K&N filter...are you saying these won't work or will make my MPG worse?
