Default Chrysler Known Problems With TIPM?

I just heard of this the other day on the news of Chrysler having possible defect and known issues with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module).

A Defective TIPM Is Cauing Dangerous Power Problems in Chrysler Vehicles

In the wake of what GM is going through, will Chrysler take a more active approach in fixing the problems?

My PT has some strange things going on sometimes. For instance, for a while now it requires a long crank on a cold start. This next week I'm taking it in to have the fuel pump replaced. Just this past week, when I press for the horn, the horn sounds fine but then the airbag light on the dash illuminates. It may go off after a few seconds, or if I press the horn again, it will usually go off. Are these related to the TIPM? Who knows or just normal maintenance items that must be taken care of with normal wear and tear.

It is a known issue but since its not a safety issue chances of a recall are slim to none. The TIPM is known to be more problematic in the 2006 then later years. Your issues does not sound like a TIPM issue. The electrical issue sounds like a clock spring problem or a problem in the wiring in the horn and airbag area.

The Class Action Lawsuit that I posted a link to was filed a few months ago, and in a recent ruling, will be allowed to proceed. It could be safety-related as the TIPM controls the airbags. Also problems have been reported with the fuel pump failing to turn off, this also could be a safety issue as it could fuel a fire. The horn pad on my PT has been replaced twice, may need to again if the problem persists.

The PT Cruiser isn't even in this suit.

Not specifically named, but Chrysler uses their TIPM in many of their other models.

Just got a letter from Chrysler that extends the warranty on the drive train in our 300S. Obviously, some problems have been identified so Chrysler is extending the warranties our to at least 150K and maybe longer.
