Default EVAP

Ok so has anyone else been having the check engine light with the evap code? I have it on mine and I out the new gas cap on and yes I did buy the gas cap from the dealer. Then had the codes wiped and about 2 days later it came back. So I replaced the charcoal canister. Which I don't recommend because it's not only expensive just for the canister but a pain to get. And I had to drop the gas tank to put it in. Then code erased and a few days later what do u know code is back. Looking for any ideas on what else might be wrong. Thanks

Down behind the transmission below the brake fluid resivor is another part of the EVAP, Purge valve?
And if you have an older PT, any leaks letting air into the fuel tank, like a rusted fuel tank fill tube will cause your problem.

I had similar problems. Neither a new gas cap nor EVAP purge valve solenoid fixed the problem.
You likely have a failing NVLD (natural vacuum leak detection) valve.
The NVLD also requires dropping the fuel tank as it is located next to the charcoal canister. Consider also changing the system air-filter while the tank is down.

More here about the NVLD and here is a video

Yes good thought to bad there is no DTC posted to see if all our help is in the correct direction.
If enough of respond with guessing without more information eventually someone will get it right for the OP?

Ok I will get my code reader out and let everyone know exactly what it reads. I already had the tank down when I did the charcoal canister sadly. It seems to be a pain in the rear problem with alot of people.
