Default 03 No crank, No start

I have a 03 base model PT Cruiser. I have had issues on and off with it not wanting to start. My husband and I thought we had the issue fixed when we got the starter connector repaired (looked to be burnt & if I "jiggled" the wire I could get the car to start). Well, this morning, I went out to start the car & nothing happened. I mean NOTHING. No lights on the dash, no radio lights, nothing. Then when I took the key out, the gas gauge needle and the temperature gauge needle started bouncing (to the timing of the blinker). Then when I put the key back in the ignition, the "ding" of the blinker joined in. When I would turn the key to the ON position, it would all stop. And then when I would turn it to the START position, nothing would happen. Also, my doors will not unlock via the button on the door, nor with the keyless entry. ??? I am at a lose. HELP!!!!

sounds like a dead battery or one that is really low try charging it and see if that helps

Also after you get the battery charged up or you jump start the car check the voltage with the car running. It should be 14 to 14.5 volts and this is to make sure the alternator is charging the battery properly.

It was raining yesterday, so I couldn't check the battery, and today my husband has classes after work. So it will be tomorrow before we can rule out the battery idea...But I had a question, could there be a problem in the ignition switch that could be causing this issue? The reason I ask is recently my key will "disengage" while I am driving (kinda pop out of place) and the radio will go off. I have to push the key back in for the radio to come back on. Just wondering...Thanks for your feedback.

Do you have a several keys and other stuff on the key ring your using?
This causes wear on the tumblers and ignition key cylinder..

I am beginning to wonder if it might have a bad Actuator Pin after it was discovered about the key issue?

That is a real possibility.
Not too expensive to have replaced.

Thanks, guys!
My husband is on his way home from work now. I think we'll check the battery first, but my suspicion is in the actuator or the ignition switch itself. I'll update you with what we find out. If you have any more input, it would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks!

Well, got out there and started with the battery. Both cables looked clean (mild corrosion on the negative cable), but we took them off and cleaned them and the posts. When my husband went to remove the positive cable, we noticed that he could just pull it off without unloosening the nut (with a little jiggling). We got everything cleaned and inspected the cables for any nicks or abrasions. For good measure, we checked all the fuses and relays. Put everything back together, and it started right up. I am so relieved!!!! I am still going to address the ignition actuator pin issue. But now I am back on the road. Thanks you guys for your feed back.

That loose cable clamp could definitely do it....
