Default Acceleration Problems

Hi, Im having an issue when accelerating, when giving gas to go faster the car begin to jerk and almost sound like its back firing and will not go faster as long as my foot on the gas pedal. I back off the gas pedal and slowly give it gas and it gradually goes into the next gear. I notice when this happen my check engine icon come on.

I have a 2004 gt 2.4 turbo, only owner 78,000 miles, within the last month I had the oil change, new air filter, new filter sponge, new air filter hose, new battery, new ac hose replace and a radiator replace. Did not have this problem prior.

Hope someone can steer me in the right direction.

Pam, welcome to the forum. What about the plugs and wires? When was the last time for a tune up? Also, sounds a little like a fuel starvation problem if it will run at normal speeds but hesitating when you try to accelerate.

PT problems read this FIRST

That kind of problem you should be seeing a engine light?

You may have simply had a control line, hose or connector displaced during those parts being replaced.

Had similar problem on my 09 a few years back, replaced cross motion sensor and throttle sensor for about 100$ a piece, problem solved. I also had a check engine light on so they came up on a diagnostic read.

Do as NitroPT suggests with getting the engine trouble codes.
I would suggest checking your gas cap to see if you forgot to put it on or forgot to tighten it.
If that is okay I would suggest checking your cam sensor if your engine trouble code reads the code for cam sensor error.
