If you want to achieve the best results without having to experiment on your own may I suggest taking the advise given by some members.

IMHO had I thought that there was a better choice given the perimeters you already set I may have recommended other parts and modifications for you.

Given that you have not even accomplished the basic evaluation of the mechanical soundness of your PT Cruiser IMHO it would be unwise for anyone to suggest things that will increase the power level and potentiality damage your engine or drive train.

The question you asked has been asked and answered at least twice in the last year that I am aware of. Try the search feature a little more?

IMO don't get caught up in titles of after market parts or systems i.e. STAGE 1,2,3, Level 1,2,3, etc. Everyone manufacture including OE try to lure you into their product by the frosting and decoration on the cake. I do it as well with my Performance line of parts.

Forums are filled with LOTS of opinions and very little real testing of data equitation. Many will go of the seat of their pants (butt dynos) or claim foul on a part because it failed to give them the results they thought it would. Mostly because they did not first follow what I recommend to you to do first before upgrading!

Jegs and Summit Racing are both the top aftermarket mail order retail parts distributors and have a great staff that can help you.

IMHO I would go direct to the manufactures and talk to the technical staff about any products you are thinking to buy. You can then compare there information with your research personal experience of end users.

I suggest however to read between the lines with end users on forums. Go to their profile and see who they are threads started and responses on other threads to get an idea of the reliability of information that comes from them.

So lets try this again?

Before anyone upgrades their PT Cruiser you should first see if the PT is mechanically sound. This is what you should do?

But if you are serious,

What is your goal?
How much can you do yourself? (tools and experience)

The biggest one is $$
How much allotted for the project and in what steps of amounts are available?

If you are not honest and realistic than *

The first steps before upgrading the engines output of any vehicle:

Ascertain general overall engine condition:
Compression test on engine
Leak down test
Cooling system pressure test
Block test

Complete inspection of:
Brake system
Suspension system
Tires and wheels

Normal things to do prior upgrades:
Ignition system Tune up
Change all fluids:
Engine oil/filter
Transmission oil and filter
Brake fluid
Coolant

Skip the JET! nuff said!

You may want to invest in an ULTRA GAUGE?
UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center

I recommend that you start to shopping for a STAGE 1 PCM

The top recommendation you will find is FWD Performance
You will need to call FWD for price and current availability.
https://www.fwdperformance.com/Store/

IMHO DO NOT BUY from any other source? That includes former PT owners selling them or used ones from any source other than FWD Performance.

BTW feel free to visit my profile.

2000.00

Stage 1 ECU -300.00
Exhaust system -700.00 = 15-25+
Transmission upgraded cooler -100.00
DiabloSport Trinity -600.00 With a good calibration 20-30+
Total with nothing else $2000.00

Maybe I should have been conservative and said 40-60whp But I did say aprox.

It all about compatible upgrades and a good calibration to tie them all together.

Just so you we don't debate back and forth. If you really read and I mean read the response you can see that it very possible for the gain I mention.

And if you can not figure it out pm before responding.
