Default DASH GOES CRAZY

My dash started to act up today. The warning lights flashed on and all the gauges went crazy. The car ran fine during all this and no engine light. Now it is working again. I looked at the threads and looks like other people had this problem but no common fault. Anything new on this and should I start at the TIMP which I think is same as body control module or cluster, that does not look easy to remove. Any new info would be appreciated.

I'd start with the grounding wires including the battery. Things like that happen sometimes when the battery gets weak or is loosing good connections to ground.

Just got back in from doing that. I pulled the timp pulled all the connectors and reset them set all the fuses and pulled the battery wire on the timp and cleaned the contacts and put some dielectric past on it.
The battery is fairly new but pulled and cleaned all the battery connections as well as the chassis ground. will see what happens from here. The sad part is it looks like a common problem but not a common solution.
Going to take it for a ride now hope I didn't cause any other problems but the car did start and the dash so far is still working.

Thanks\
Mike

I had the same issue when I needed a new battery cable. The issue was the ground. All connections were clean and had dielectric grease on them but the cable itself was bad. It looked fine on visual inspection. If cleaning the connections worked for you you're probably fine.

Just an update. It's been about three weeks now and so far so good. SO maybe I did good. For now I will assume it's working but I know these problems can return months later but hope what I did can help someone else and give another tool to repair to this problem, which I understand is more common than not.

My 03 did the same thing after getting a water bath from low spot in the road which was now a pond... It never happened again.

Update:
Well guess my luck it didn't last. Was out with the PT today and all the warning lights came on and quickly went off.

My next step is to replace the ignition switch as my internet research seems to lead me.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

If you ensured connections are clean and tight, ignition switch is another frequent culprit...
Hope that's it....

Mine started that a few years ago. Tracked it down to the switch and having too many keys on the keyring.

Started driving it with just the one key in the ignition and it hasn't happened since.

Easy enough to try...
