Default Dumb question: Need help

I have. 2008 pt non turbo

Does my car have front and back calipers or just front?

Im about to buy some caliper paint and need to know.

Also how many cans per caliper?

Im really not even sure what kind in gonna get yet or a kit.

Im gonna try to use brake cleaner and then paint them.

You'll see the disk and caliper thru the your slotted wheel if you have one, or if you don't take a rear hubcap off to see. If it isn't disk in the rear it'll be drum. All PTs were disk in the front. Take a peek. ptprice

You mean you can't tell if you have 4-wheel disk brakes or not? If not, I suggest to get someone with a little more experience to help with your project. You'll get a better job if the main part of the caliper is taken off and done off the car and from what I'm reading, you don't want to do that by yourself.

I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

Rear Drums were standard, Rear Calipers were an Option. Pull off a rear tire & look.

Lol. No I dont want to do it by myself, I know, im a newb.

I dont want to have them teken off to paint them because I think you have to bleed the brakes afterwards right?

I just bought a set of 15" rims. Im going to the tire shop right now and while they dismount my tires off the stock steelies/hubcaps to mount to my new rims thats when I plan to paint the calipers

Rear disc brakes will look like this except the stock calipers will likely be rusty brown instead of red. Also, if your PT has ABS, there's a good chance you have rear disc brakes.

Even if you have grum brakes in the rear, I believe you should paint them or at least apply a rust treatment,I use NAPA 765-1232, for the simple reason if you let them rust the iron that falls off will cause the chrome wheels, if you have them to pit then peel. The bare iron will also cause discoloration on aluminum wheels.
If your rear brakes are drums I recommend you pull the drums and also treat the groove on the inside edge of the drum and while ther check the pads to make sure the glue that attaches them is not failing.

...or the drum brakes can always be covered up.

10" aluminum disc drilled to match the front rotors placed over the drum before the wheel goes on.

Or----

If you have rear drum brakes, you can always upgrade the "Handy" way.

The Handy Rear Disc Brake Upgrade

And here's the same thread without all the banter in between the good stuff.
