Default Exhaust question ?

I've got a question about the possibilities of removing the pipe behind the conveter with the muffler still connected. So as to remove the pipe and muffler as one piece...is that possible ? Or would you have to remove some of the rear suspension to do that ?

Yeah I'm sure it does go over axle. Just asking because a friend works at a dismantlers shop, and my be able to get me a like new factory system ..cheap Was hoping it could be " snaked" through as one piece. Probably not I'm sure.

I changed my exhaust way back in 2001... I didn't have to undo anything with the suspension. Just put the back of the car up on jack stands to get room to work. I think the muffler and pipe that goes over the rear axle is clamped to the mid pipe that goes to the catalytic converter... So it it comes out in two pieces.

Your friend can get it out in one piece when they drop the axle. You can then work on the slip joint on the front of the muffler to get it apart. Its not easy but better than overhead or on your back.

Bit confused here: Were you able to remove your system without separating the muffler and long pipe.. remove it as one complete unit?

I did this way back in 2001 so I don't recall the exact process... but I'm fairly sure it came out in two pieces. Separate the muffler from the long pipe.
