Default clicking. ticking. confusion..

Hi! My first post to this page. So excuse me if I dont know exactly what to do l

Ok I have an 02 pt cruiser. Auto. 106k. Owned for 11yrs.
Recently picking my son up from school i randomly got a low rough idle. Almost died. Found a bad egr valve gasket. After replacing that I now have a clicking...or ticking... sometimes it does it in idle... while coasting the sound stops...as soon as I touch the gas it starts clicking. I thought it was my lash adjusters/lifters. So I checked those. They seem fine.

Im at a loss..... help!!

Does the clicking increase when you step on the gas or is it the same?

It does slightly increase. And as soon as I let it coast it goes away.

It sounds like the leak detection pump (NVLD system) is causing the clicking sound. Did you double check to make sure you hooked everything up correctly at the EGR valve after you replaced the EGR gasket?

Was the clicking sound there before you replaced the EGR valve gasket?
