Default 06 ignition sw actuator pin

I tried to replace my ign switch. guess I broke the actuator pin. NOW it need the actuator pin assembly Dorman only makes it to 05. I have an 06! Anyone have a source and some ideas on how to not brake the new one as the tilt steering lever is in the way and makes it hard not to brake.

Did you just brake the end off? I pulled the 1/4 piece busted off out and put the long piece back in, should still work, wont have the chime when in accesory with door open.

Looking for an actuator found a Crown # Ap1000 they claim will fit 06 have email to there support.

The problem with the broken pin is chime goes on when I open the door with the key in or out and because of this can't lock the door with the power locks.

If I do get a part can I get the cylinder housing off with just removing the two (light & wiper) stalks off or do I have to remove the steering wheel and entire clock assembly???

What a nightmare!

You will need a 5 point torx, I could not get my cylinder out of the housing to change the pin

I have security torx bits. Not sure it 5 point but I did get the ign sw off. I just don't want to have to pull the steering wheel.

Wb2kki,
it would be great if you could take pictures of what you are doing as you are completing the repair and maybe save someone else from having headaches trying to do the same repair.

Not a bad idea.
If I can find the part and if I can do it without pulling the entire clock spring and steering wheel. If so bringing it to my mechanic.
Checked the dealer they only sell the entire cylinder housing for $200 and I guess another $200 to install it. If the parts on line are correct $25 to $65.

Check ed my torx and they are 6 points so also have to look into that.
Anyway will post whatever I find out.

I checked the service manual and they do call for 5 point torx plus (security bit) The pics however show 6 point regular Torx. I guess If I do do the job I will have to pick up a set. They don't seem too expensive.

I was thinking about what VNT said about the broken pin. I was getting a chime with key in or out. Didn't make sense so looked up the schematic and should work like VNT said. SO, took out the ignition switch again and put in the new one that started all this. Sure enough all works well except you don't get a chime when the key is in and you can lock your keys in. Since I always carry a spare I can live with this since I can now use the power locks.

On the ignition switch actuator pin I found a Crown Automotive AP1000 and they claim it is for the 06.

Also you do need a 5 star torx PLUS security bit to remove the cylinder housing. You don't have the remove the steering wheel!

Now I will see if replacing this switch repairs the warning lights to go on see my post Dash goes crazy.

I hope this helps someone.
Mike
