Default Exhaust pipe cracked

Just like the title says my exhaust pipe is cracked and it sounds terrible. I'm looking to get this fix cheap as I can. So basically what im wondering is why did the crack happen, and can I just bring it to a muffler shop and replace the PIPE ONLY.

Another possibility is that the muffler is clogged. I looked from the rear of the car and it doesn't appear to be clogged.

The car has 130k miles on it. What do you guys think?

*also please ignore the terrible welds

Depending on where the pipe is located on the exhaust you could find a local muffler shop that can bend the pipe if necessary to make you the pipe.
But if that is an example of the complete exhaust system you will be back before to long to replace more of the pipe.

The pipe looks like it cracked on the seam and from seam weld that probably the weakest part.

The crack is about 3 ft long and is right before the muffler. Its a very long and straight pipe. There is no curve at all where the crack is.

The end of that pipe goes into the muffler intake pipe after going over the rear axle. It probably getting thin everywhere, and before long it will need replaced along with the muffler.
RockAuto has that pipe with the curl over the axle if you care to fight taking the muffler connection loose, along with stretching the the connection on the end close to the catalyic converter to get it off.

I ended up bringing it to the muffler shop and they just cut the pipe out and replaced it and its good for now. Its a HUGE improvement.

I'm sure you found out that it hard to weld thin metal and probably impossible to weld rusty thin metal.

If you don't mind me asking how much was it and where did you go? I'm hearing a noise that sounds like it's under the back seat. Not sure if it's the muffler though.

just find a reputable muffler shop.

For instance i have TONS of franchise shops around.

Yet i choose the backyard shop ran by a family of mexicans, Why? its local, they are cheap, they are very fast, and have a higher review then any franchise available.

Do some research, and find a great shop.

Just had a resonator crack on my 06 Sebring and the local no name shop replaced the resonator with about 40 inches of straight pipe for $60.

Expanded the end to slip over and Welded in and out the door.
