Default remote unlock, headlights on?

I joined this forum for a little while and I have enjoyed reading all the posts and great answers.

My 2008 cruiser is a base model. When I use my remote to unlock the car, the headlights always turn on. I looked through the manual, but I couldn't find anywhere to turn this function off. ( or did I miss it?) I also tried to search around, but couldn't find a hit.

Anyone has experience in this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. This is for lock though, not for unlock, right?

This pdf should help you with your question.

“Flash Lights On Lock/Unlock” feature can be activated or deactivated according to page 33.

I will keep looking to see if you can have one or the other.

Sorry about that!
Just google "flash light 2008 pt cruiser"
The first one that comes should be the pdf file.
Let me know if you find it.

I found it

On page 33, it doesn't mention unlock, only something with lock, and this is pretty similar to what LionPT mentioned earlier:

"TO TURN OFF “FLASH LIGHTS WITH LOCK”:
NOTE: The Flash Lights With Lock feature can be
turned on or off. On electronic vehicle information center
(EVIC) equipped vehicles refer to 9Personal Settings9 in
the EVIC section of this manual. On non EVIC - equipped
vehicles perform the following steps:
1. Press the UNLOCK button for four to ten seconds.
2. While the UNLOCK button is pressed, (after four
seconds) press the LOCK button. Release both buttons.
3. Test the flash lamps with LOCK feature while outside
of the vehicle, by pressing the LOCK button on the
keyfob with the ignition in the LOCK position, and the
key removed.
NOTE: Pressing the LOCK button on the keyfob, while
you are in the vehicle, will activate the Security Alarm.
Opening a door with the Security Alarm activated will
cause the alarm to sound. Press the UNLOCK button to
deactivate the Security Alarm.
The “Flash Lights On Lock/Unlock” feature can be
reactivated by repeating this procedure.
TO PROGRAM ADDITIONAL TRANSMITTERS:
NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with the optional Electronic
Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) in the instrument
cluster, the transmitters may also be programmed
through the EVIC display.

Further looking into the manual, it mentioned:

"When the UNLOCK button is
pressed, the illuminated entry will initiate, and the
parking lights will flash on twice. The time for this
feature is programmable on vehicles equipped with the
Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC). Refer to
“Turn Headlamps on with Remote Key Unlock” under
“Personal Settings” in the Electronic Vehicle Information
Center (EVIC) section of this manual for details."

I guess my Cruiser doesn't have EVIC? How do I tell if it has EVIC or not?
And it talks about illuminated entry and parking lights, What I see is the headlights, do they mean the same thing, or different?

On my 2008 PT Cruiser it has the EVIC.

The new Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) let customize adjust their personal settings and provided a compass and temperature display, fuel economy, distance to empty and elapsed time.

I found this information on the link below about half way down.

Thanks Steve. I found the instructions of "Turn Headlamps on with Remote Key Unlock" when EVIC is equipped. My Cruiser doesn't have EVIC. So I guess it would be a NO to my desire?
