Default Keyless Entry/Remote Start system

Hi,

I posted here a few weeks ago about needing a keyfob for my 07 Cruiser. Some of the other members here stated I may have the base model which came with just a transponder key. I talked to my wife and told her that it may not have the keyless entry feature built in. We then discussed a keyless entry / remote start system for it. We decided on the Viper VSS4000, which we can use our smartphone instead of a fob. I'm hoping it works. We also bought the immobilizer bypass as well, as ours is an 07 with a computer chip ignition.

As I mentioned in my other post, it has some kind of immobilizer already built in, like a lojack, but I need to find it. Wondering if I should disable that and remove it. I would also like to know where the location of the factory keyless entry system is located so I can check for that to make sure it isn't already on the vehicle. If not, I think my new keyless entry system would work great.

Thanks,
Chris

There is no fuse box in the 2007, so I doubt the LoJack is under the hood...most likely it's under the steering column near the knee airbag.

From what we've read the last few months, dealers are installing LoJacks to used cars so they can be repossessed if buyer stops paying. If this is the case, removing it is going to send up a few flags.

The G1's have a small fuse box to the left of the steering wheel & relays are under the hood in the PDC.
The G2's just have only a TIPM.

The first generation PT Cruisers don't have a TIPM - Totally Integrated Power Module. They have the PDC - Power Distribution Center.

I received all the components in the mail to install the remote start/keyless entry. All I can say now is that I am looking at at least 40-50 wires. Most I am not sure if they are even used. Has anyone ever installed a remote start/keyless entry system on their vehicle? I am trying to do homework by finding which wire goes to what in order to hook up the system. The system I bought from Amazon is a Viper 4000, which is made by Directed Electronics as well as a Directed Electronics 556UW. Will keep digging until I get more info.

Thanks,
Chris
