Default remote garage door buttons

2006 Limited
The driver's side vanity mirror was broken when I bought this car used, and I want to replace the entire sun visor, but all the ones I see offered for sale lack the buttons for my garage door opener, which does work. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove those buttons from the old visor, and cut a hole in a new one to fit?

Close, but not quite what I had in mind. The 2006 sun visor is plastic, underneath the fabric, for one thing (not cardboard, like the photos in that link). And, I have a working remote already, in my current visor. Maybe the thing to do is to change out just the mirror, from a new visor, to my old one. I'll have to study on this some more, I guess. Thanks for taking the time.

I almost put "the process should be similar" in my post, maybe it would have made a difference.
You want to replace it anyway, the only way to find out is to rip it apart.

The way that this site works is....
If you are doing something that no one else has exactly done before; you get advice on "how to"; then do it yourself; and then post a thread with pictures on how you did it!

Santanaharma would be a good person to ask about the electrical.
(probably have to patch the "At Home" device into the mirror light wires)
The patching it into another visor is supposed to be the creative part of you.

Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet on this. I have opened up my original broken mirror visor, only to find that the shaft's mounts are broken inside the visor itself, so even if I could somehow mount an unbroken mirror, the whole thing will be unstable. I should have left the broken mirror alone, I guess. I do appreciate all the help.

Quick Update: I got a replacement visor from a great guy, Bubba_1982, for a reasonable price, and simply connected it, and now, everything is just fine.
