Default OK, time to do some brain pickin'

Hello, I just bought a 2003 PT Cruiser, good price by advertised as "motor does not run."

It looks like this motor has been substantially hacked by a dufus, with unconnected hoses, bolts missing...even one spark plug was short reach...guess it's just what he (or she) had laying around.

So, here's my problem: can anyone identify the hose in picture one? it has about a 1/2 male thread, and a male hose vacuum port perpendicular to the thread. I found it tucked behind the AC dryer...like it was being hidden.

Second are something seems like it was removed from the throttle body, with two threaded holes (picture two) that obviously held something...but that something is missing. Anybody know what it is?

Thanks,
terry

#2 is EGR...if 2003 had one...it was dropped, but all manifolds have fittings still.

This picture does show part of the fuel emissions vapor recovery system.

Here it is as should be; look for green cap. The tube continues right and down to the EVAP purge valve.

And here, a link to a thread on this forum about the green capped Schrader valve.

Thanks! That clears up a lot...The threads are the test port, not some missing sensor.

Thanks, I'll look into it. Now I have someplace to start.
