Default What kind of gas mileage are you getting?

So this is my first Cruiser and I am wondering what kind of gas mileage I should expect?

To be honest, I am really, really, really disappointed with the fuel economy. We renamed it the Petrol Taking Cruiser because no matter what I do I can't get any more than 23 mpg, which I think is horrible. 23 is if I baby it and drive like an old man. I was averaging 24 mpg with my loaded 300M making the same commute, driving normally. It's basically a Neon platform with a large hatch back, I am confused as to why it guzzles gas.

I put a timing belt and head gasket on when I got it; so is it possible I got one of the cams off a tooth? It seems to have decent power, just bad fuel economy.

That's about normal. My old 02 got 25-27mpg for years then it got down to 17mpg closer to the end. My 01 doesn't get but maybe 15mpg if I'm lucky.

PCM calibrated very well tuned 2005 GT
Average 24+ mpg Daily driving

These threads about MPG have been started a couple or more times and there is a lot of interesting response you may try using the search feature to find them.

Just over 26mpg highway (with occasional traffic), 22mpg locally.

Recently changed plugs, wires, front wheel bearings, did an alignment and went to full synthetic oil, so hoping it may go up a bit...

Been damn cold up here in maine, just filled up yesterday. Took on long trip about 300 miles to from Mass and some around town, averaged 25 mpg on the button. This is in my 06 base auto, and was flying about 70-75 on trip to mass.

I have been avg around 23sh this winter but that is due to the weather, has been coldest winter in long time.

On our '07 Base PTC, auto, my wife gets about 23+ on the hwy, apx 19+ in the city. My wife's avg is 21 mpg. When I drive, mostly on the freeway, my avg is over 26 mpg. Go figure!

I get about 22 mpg if I drive like an adult. But too often, I drive like a kid with a new toy. So it can be much lower depending my need for speed.

well one more time if you did some reasearch BEFORE you bought your PT you would know that at the HIGH END it is around 27 and most get around 20-23 its what it is
There are hundreds of complaints but the bottom line is Its heavy its a small motor it revs high and its a freaking cool car to drive
