If anyone has an 06, could you do me a favor and look at the wires on both the coil and the camshaft sensors, they are both a three wire set, and get me the colors of both sets of wires, oh both main color and the stripe, thanks

I'll look in the morning...unless it's raining, again.

If the wiring diagram is correct one is; (1) orange (2) Black/ Light Blue (3) Grey/Black
The other is; (1) Orange (2) Tan/Yellow (3) Black/Light Blue

The Orange is 5 volt, the Black/light blue is ground, the grey/black is the CKP signal on one and tan/yellow is the CMP signal on the other

I got these from the service manual wiring diagrams for 2006-10, hopefully they match up. They did for my speaker wiring.

Thanks lion, the guy that worked on this pt I do believe has the coil and camshaft wires hooked up backwards. This morning I did what you said and switched them and when I turned it over I thought it sputtered somewhat, and then got the codes. I them switched the wire back the way they were and turned it over and took the codes. Switching these wires got me to thinking about this and AND I did some research on the color of the wires, and in the tech forum here I read a thread where the guy said two of the wore colors on the camshaft, have so many colors running in my head can't remember, lol, and I looked on my pt and the guy that worked on it had the Orange, tan with yellow stripe, and black with blue stripe wire harness connected to the coil, and has the harness that goes to the coil black with gray stripe I think, blue with tan stripe, and green with orange connected to the camshaft sensor. Which would explain the codes I have listed in my other thread.

Thanks B M C, I just bought this pt a few weeks ago, and the guy that owned it had some work done, head gasket, and the dude that worked on it has all sorts of things screwed up. And would not start, would turn over but not start, and just an hour ago I figured out he has the camshaft and coil harnesses hooked up backwards

Does it start now? If not what are the new engine trouble codes?
I see you have two threads on the same issue.

On my 2006 they are:
  • Cam Sensor: Red, Black, Yellow
  • Coil: Blue, Green/Orange, Black/White

Thanks lion, these two harnesses were backwards. The camshaft position sensor was hooked to the coil, and the coil to the camshaft. I have them switched back to where the go, but I have not tried to start it; I want to clear the codes and clean all the cable leads and what bot. Thank for the suggestion of switching these harnesses, that is what lead me to look closer in to these wires.

I leaned the battery cables are cleared the codes and I tried to start it, after I sprayed some either in it it sputtered a few times which is good first time I got it to do that. Then the battery died, it is an old battery, and need to get a new one. I am making progress, next is I think I am going to drain the gas out of it, it has been sitting for about two years. All because an assault hook two harnesses bewards it seems

Buy a can of this & add it to the tank also...to clean out the fuel injectors.
Add the whole can even if you don't fill tank.
