Default 08 Cruiser general dash lighting

Greetings Cruisers,
I have an interesting problem....who doesn't.
2008 PT Cruiser Touring.....Approx 2 weeks ago, the dash lights (cluster, clock, radio, climate controls and hazard) began a strange behavior. These are the general illumination lamps that come on with the headlamp/running lamp switch; not the engine op indicators.
When the switch for running lights is turned on, all the lamps listed above, including the front and rear running lights, flash on/off exactly 6 times and then stay off. Weird, huh?
I've replaced the multi-function switch and cleaned/checked the battery...OK.
Now night driving is with hazard lights on.
Anyone have any ideas.
Is there a relay between the MFS and the general dash lighting?
Thanks for any advice.

Check for blown fuses. Is it putting off any codes? Try going to autozone and having it scanned. They might help u. But first, check the owners manual and look for the lighting. Fuses and see if they are all in the same place and are still good.

Several questions come to mind...

1. How many miles are on the car?

2. have you owned the car since new and do you know of any electrical modifications? Like aftermarket radio, trailer wiring, LED lights, remote start, fog lights, stuff like that that did dot come on the car??

3. Did you reset the TIPM after changing the switch? If you don't know what the TIPM is, just do a google search or search this forum.

The Totally Integrated Power Module was installed on the PT starting in 06. It is basically the fuse box behind the air cleaner and has an built in electronic circuit board that controls a lot of the stuff that relays used to do. Also kinda a big PIA.
