Default What are the wires running behind the glove box?

I'm installing an electric antenna and others who have done it said they hooked the wires up to the 2 wires running behind the glove compartment box, there is a small relay there.

What are those wires for though?

I tried looking at wiring schematics but cannot see it.

I like to know first, because being in the UK where things are on the other side, I do not fancy linking the antenna power wires to these cables if they are for something important.

Follow the wires on the right, I think they might go to the fan.

Oh yikes. So not a good idea to be plugging the antenna to that then. Others said they used these wires

I could be wrong....I believe Lion is talking about the blower motor for the interior A/C-Heat fan. In my book, that fan has a Dark Green /Black-tan set of wires. What you can do is take apart that connection so the wires aren't making contact and see what doesn't work. Try the a/c/heat and if the interior fan doesn't work, then you know what those wires go to.

Or, as Lion said, try and follow the wires to see where they attach to.
uncomn likes this.

This was from someone else who said they installed the power antenna.

"Step 20 Attach the new power antenna wires to the red and green relay wires that should be in the vicinity at the bottom of the glove compartment opening."

Now the photos I showed are the only wires in the vicinity. But as you say crewzin the wires are green and/black tan set of wires.

Slightly off subject but same area of car, I'm having a little play in this area today partly because i have been working on the door which i will post about separately later, and also while i was down there, as my end corner trim panel (passenger footwell) was cracked, and I do need to replace a broken Ariel also and wire for a subwoofer, plus I'm really on a mission of getting to know the ins and outs of this car, so I noticed this thing, (see photo) looks shaped like some sort of circular filter housing (black) behind glove box connected to plastic 'ducting' (under the shape of the carpet piece above where feet would be) just wondered if it is serviceable....? I had the under wiper grill off yesterday while I was sanding& respraying the wiper arms and found a lot of leaves and a very black and 15 year clogged rectangular filter that I have removed and will replace very soon. Cheers!

Oh and also in the other photo the foam piece around wiring has a white kind of powdery slime on it just wondered if this is from new and what it is/for
