Was the service contract from Chrysler or a third party?

First, welcome to the forum from the great sovereign state of Arkansas!

Next, who was the warranty through? I've never seen a warranty on a car that old that was actually usable. But I have seen some used car dealers that offer some form of warranty like this where they offer to fix or replace an older car within a specific time and mileage range, if that car breaks down.

Much of the time, these used car dealers get enough for the older car that for just a little extra (cost of their warranty) they can afford to just give the customer another car of similar wholesale value and still make a profit. How much did you pay for the low-mileage 12-year old PT? And how much extra was the warranty?

Welcome to the forum. Sounds nice to get such a low mileage PT, especially since there seem to be many more mod items and customizations available for the Gen1, than Gen2. But you probably still need to consider having the timing belt replaced, after all it is 12 years old and made of rubber, which will degrade even though low mileage. But I hope you enjoy your new ride, post some pics when you get a chance, would like to see it!

Thanks for the feedback!
Paid $7,000 for it and the service contract was from a third party, not Chrysler, for $2,500. I know that is a lot of $ but after reading some of the problems encountered with the Cruisers i was concerned about major repairs down the road. Looks like it just came off the lot and love the way it handles plus has plenty of get up and go for me.
And did not know about the timing belt being rubber, will check into that...thanks for the heads up!

I would double check that service contract and make sure you don't have to change the timing belt after a certain number of years.
