Default Turbo limited locked engine

I found a 2006 blue limited turbo with 90k miles, there is black oil in the engine the owner don't know what happend to the car, but the engines is locked timming belt is good
Is $800.00 OK for this vehicle ?

I don't know if i'm going to replace the engine, or remove it and rebuild it.

Did the seller say what happened before it locked up?
When I am shopping for a PT Cruiser I ask alot of questions and usually have a good idea of what happened to the engine or transmission.

First check the car yourself to see if the engine is actually locked up. If you cannot turn the crank, walk away. This would likely cost more to fix than it is worth. Turbo salvage engines are fairly rare and hard to find. The only way to make this a good deal is if you can just swap out the engine with an inexpensive salvage engine.

But if the crank turns freely, this could just be a matter of a dead battery or something like that. It's still a gamble, but it might turn out not to cost too much to fix.

Excellent idea. I will always bring tools with me for diagnosis when checking out a potential PT Cruiser to buy besides the OBDII Scan Tool.

I have also seen the Flexplate/tq converter bolts back out and jam the motor, but if the current owner doesn't know anything about cars, it is Likely that he knew nothing of maintaining cars, so the motor could be wrecked.

The engine is locked, I try to move the crank and Nothing.
if i buy the car the engine will need to be repair maybe new pistons,
I did this before with a 2001 regular 2.4 engine
Are the parts for the turbo engine more expensive? this is a normal turbo, Not a GT

Thank you
