Default Towing Campers with PT Cruisers

Does anyone tow a small camper with a PT? If so, what is the camper dry weight and how well does it work for you?
I have a 2007 base, automatic. Class 1 hitch that is rated for 2,000 lbs, but the car is only rated for 1,000 lbs.

you might add a trans cooler, trans temp gauge, and make sure your brakes are good

does the camper have brakes? reason i ask:

i had 7-800 lbs of landscaping junk in my car and the real surprise for me was when i hit the brakes. you REALLY feel the weight then. i would say when i was traveling 45mph i had to push the pedal at least 2x as hard to achieve the normal result.. and this is with half the weight you're asking about.

someone with more experience will chime in shortly i'm sure.

I just bought a 1964 Apache soft top pop up. It only weighs 600 lbs. Towing it home, (which was 1 1/2 hours) I didn't even know it was there except on bumpy roads or crossing a RR.
I do want to get a small Aliner in the future. Just wondered what others are towing. Not specific questions about my camper.

I recently installed a hitch on my 03 Dream and plan on pulling my Fiberglass Mullins Red Cap trailer which sits on two 50s Chrysler wire wheels that I had on both my 48 Plymouth Coupe and then my 48 Plymouth woodie station wagon. Sold the cars kept the wheels. Also acquired a set of 50s Dodge wires too.
I've pulled the Mullins camping for about thirty years now behind my 81 Plymouth Reliant K, 84 Mercury Grand Marquis, 96 Saturn and 23 T bucket roadster. Always pulled straight and smooth on G75-15 Sears Guardsman tires with tubes which are still on the trailer. Loaded for camping the trailer probably tops out at 800 lbs, of which 350 is the trailer itself.
