Question Sugar? What the hell, only in my coffee please

So I have had some issues with my fuel system, the tank was venting and actually leaked from the top somewhere. Anyway I dropped the tank to find the source of the leak pressurized the tank soap all the lines and found nothing? My curiosity got the best of me, since the tank was out I might as well check the fuel screen/filter and replace it because it did sputter a few times after filling up. When I removed the pump assembly I noticed white crystals in the separator, that cant possibly be what I think it is? So being a guinea pig I tasted it and sure enough it was sweet luckily there was no sugar in the tank itself. Needless to say I went on the adventure of finding the fuel screen, nope the local auto parts stores only sell it with the internal pump and of course its "special order 3-5 business days" looking at the cost difference from $110 to the complete assembly at $190 I decided to pay the extra and save myself more headaches in the long run, the answer to the age old question will sugar in the tank ruin your fuel system no - but it will plug the filter and cause a lot of headaches. I took the banana car out after putting her all together and she ran great even with a little more pep in her step I have no know enemies and I garage her at night. Since I bought it used last year I think it just took time to fail.

not laughing at your misfortune, just the fact that curiousity got you to do taste it.

tampons in the fill tube can cause you to think your gas gauge is broken, just FYI, not that i ever tasted one though.

time for a locking gas cap?

no and i'm pretty sure that any brand you buy i could remove, but i'm sure you'd know because it'd likely get destroyed in the process.

you might put a small hidden scratch as alignment mark on the cap so you can check that it hasn't been tampered with in the meantime.

edit: maybe you should avoid the locking gas cap. we JB welded a dime over the lock hole on a friends back in the day. we thought it was a lot funnier than he did.

Those butter colored Cruisers are so pretty. I looked for one but could not find so I ended up my Dream 2 and then the Dream 1. I'm very happy but still have my eyes open for one. Was that color available on Gen One Cruisers or just Gen Two?
